$$$ and device usability. For it to be effective it needs to be used ~80% of the time. So that you can look around and get someones attention. Not just for meetings.

In my case (teaching), I realized how much I had underestimated the importance of body language. As a speaker I consistently rely on it to quickly assess how well I am getting my point across.

Face to face contact has value. But hard to quantify. An upshot of WFH and near-zero business travel is that a lot of practices have no rational basis. Supposedly rational managers do what feels good. Investors don't mind because they make similar decisions. Lessons learned?
