      That’s not what defunding the police means.       Ok. I'm not sure this moderate version is what the phrase means to Chesa Boudin. But I have been an opponent of police unions for many years, and if this plan means pushing back against them, I'm all for it. So I'll delete the original reply.

      How often do people interpret something you said/wrote in a way that seems like it _has_ to be a bad-faith, intentional misreading? How do you and the other involved parties react? How is this not the mirror image of that situation?

      It's not the mirror image of that situation because it was way milder than I get, and even so I changed my mind and deleted it. If everyone who misread me did that, I'd be delighted, believe me.
