People who think that reallocating funding towards police training will change anything must be the same people who think public education’s main problem is insufficient budget.

Unless the money is used to make the training longer. In Norway police training takes 3 years, and the mere length of it apparently filters out some people you really want to filter out.

I've been studying & writing about police use of deadly force for 40 years. Police training does NOT work. Your life training before you join the force determines what kind of cop you're going to be. If you advocate better police training now, you're wasting time & money.

Norwegian people are different. Their prisons are also, relative to US prisons, club Méditerranée. The idea that we can just train people for longer to solve this problem is absurd to me. If I did a Monte Carlo simulation with you as a cop, doesn’t matter your training, mistakes

The problem is that they're training cops to kneel on people. The solution is to find safer ways to detain and arrest people.

It's not length of training. It's training for policing, not occupation, according to @SkinnerPm:https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/06/03/beat-cop-militarized-policing-cia/ …

Lengthening police training won’t move the needle on the white supremacist ethic of American policing. Black people continue to be brutalized while white Americans refuse to understand that police can’t be regulated; don’t follow the rules + are out of control - beyond reform.

Paul, not sure it is logical to compare a county with 5.3 million people to the US. Not only because Of size, but because of culture and demographics.

The US and Norway are certainly different in many respects, but 3 years is the same length in both.
