One thing I've learned as an adult that I didn't realize as a kid is how precisely you have to aim at a goal to hit it. If you choose to optimize something even slightly off to the side, you'll sometimes achieve almost nothing toward your intended goal.

For a while at age of 32 to 40, I stop being disciplined and was irresponsible (with now at age of 45, looking back) about my life in simply doing what I felt like it, and things that I did had not much relationship to each other.Thanks. Unfortunately if you don't have a network already and especially if not a white male, "building rockets now" doesn't work because nobody on Sand Hill will believe you can do it. You'll waste 100 hours pitching + 200 hours in transit and get $0. So you build something else first.
