One thing I didn't realize till I had kids is that when kids fail at something, it's more often because they get upset at doing badly than because of actual inability. If you're not careful, this tendency can continue well into adulthood.

It helps to praise kids for effort instead of inert ability. “You worked very hard on this” is a better praise than “You’re so smart”
