Burke's conservatism (from my limited understanding) was skeptical of extreme change. To avoid political instability or other unintended consequences. Isn't that a well argued form of intentional moderation?
Good point, but acting slowly on your opinions is not the same thing as changing the actual opinions to be more moderate.

I was going to make a similar point about semantics. I use the term "centrist" for "intentional moderate." A "philosophical moderate" is someone who tries to apply moderation from first principles and may as a result hold specific opinions that seem extreme relative to fashion
