What Trump doesn't get is that if he hits Twitter hard enough to damage it, users will just switch to a Twitter clone based in some country outside his reach. He's not fighting Twitter. He's fighting possible Twitters. That's a much more powerful adversary.

I don't know of any. But the right people could spin one up in a week.

Twitter is about the community, not the tech. Anyone can take the open source code of a twitter clone like
@joindiaspora or http://pump.io and bring the Twitter community there. With good leadership's this would take a few weeks to start over. -

It already has, many times over, as an entry-level programming exercise. The serious attempts don't catch on because there's not much reason presently to leave Twitter for some other Twitter-like service.

there is a shadier right-wing version of twitter, Gab I think. not sure if it's still functional. A far worse replacement will be using something like VK.
