The best part of
@patio11's work here is that he writes it as if it's just a Japanese curiosity. In my humble opinion, what he says applies generally and globally in business. His writing it as particular to Japan shows his command of politeness– as to not inadvertently offend. -
Maybe a year ago, someone wrote about the unwritten "elevator captain" rule of Japan: person closest to control panel makes sure to hold open door, close immediately, shuffles into position as needed. I've added this here in NY and the social results have been excellent.
