Having G employees (as they are now) doesn't seem like a choice as much as a consequence of scaling the organization the way they did.

TSLA and SpaceX break all rules of management, questioning if they apply at all. They have insane attrition and burn people out. Some of their best do leave if they can't keep up or put up. Managers have 25 direct reports with no 1:1s.
