How does this destroy Biden? Amazon and Biden both agree that the problem is with the tax code. They are literally on the same side.
The difference is that, having spent 3 decades in the Senate, he as much as anyone created the tax code. If he has a problem with using tax incentives to influence corporate behavior, why did he vote for them?

He also had a majority in both chambers as a VP. He was in a uniquely powerful position to close whatever loophole he now has a problem with.

You vastly overstate the ability of a majority in Congress to do whatever any one person or even the majority of that majority want. And you vastly understate the power of corporate America in DC.

(1) Many things now in the tax code Biden voted against. (2) Sometimes you have to vote for an overall bill even though you oppose particular aspects of it. (3) Aspects of our tax code are out of date and corporate America is exploiting them due to changes in the economy.

(4) Some of the tax positions that Amazon takes are arguably contrary to the actual laws. (5) The IRS has allowed tax positions that the people who voted for the bills didn't intend to allow. (6) Sometimes people change their minds in light of facts and evidence and arguments.
