Because if someone like me can break into SF with no track record and living in Arizona, then someone living in SF with a track record can surely move away and continue to live in the bay area...the one in the cloud at least.
-
Why not just live in SF Bay Area instead of SF city?

A non-trivial portion of tech workers are in SF solely for the opportunity. As the quarantine forced remote work on everyone, companies are divesting themselves from the idea that all work must be in office. Perfect time to lock in SF pay, but live in a cheaper/nicer place

SF is kinda cold, its impossibly expensive, earthquake probable, it's impossibly expensive, bad singles scene relative to Austin and LA, and it's impossibly expensive
-
You forgot to mention that it's impossibly expensive...

I think it boils down to three things: more affordable homes while being in an “urban” area, warmer weather, non trivial improvement in nightlife and entertainment

If you have kids & want decent public schools, you are 10 times better off in Norcal. I don’t understand Twitter, someone I don’t know says something mysterious & dumb, my hero Paul asks why, and here I am replying with some facts. What a weird platform.
