Something I told my 8 yo: If you do creative work, try to avoid situations where people with less ability than you can tell you what to do, or edit your work.

Having been in this position from time to time, I can vouch for it being maddening. But it needn’t be. For instance, everybody needs an editor, but your editor doesn’t have to be a superior writer to you to be effective and helpful. I’m sure you can relate on that count,

I don't think everyone needs an editor. No writer had an editor till comparatively recent times, historically.
