Something I told my 8 yo: If you do creative work, try to avoid situations where people with less ability than you can tell you what to do, or edit your work.

George Lucas learned from those with equal or better ability, I.e. Coppola but also from those with less talent while in school and industry. His student film was ripped by many , lauded by others. All those lessons helped him develop POV and autonomy to create Star Wars

Lucas did his best work before he had full control. When he was in charge, everyone just told him everything was great, and he wrote terrible dialogue and made awful directing choices in the prequels. It's also good to have people who aren't afraid to tell you you're messing up.

Constraint is the mold which shapes molten, fluid creativity; stops it from spilling on the floor; confines it into form and function.

But in most cases I'd agree that it's a negative when those with no creative talent are in a position to control your content. It's just good to have people there to reign in the talent and keep them from making terrible business decisions.
