As always @paulg gives one of best pieces of advice but, why everything has to end at “learn to code”, even if you don’t like it or it just doesn’t excite you much after giving it a shot multiple times? Obviously, asking for a friend :).https://twitter.com/paulg/status/1260486705859231747 …

Thanks to the coronavirus, college this fall probably won't be the experience you hoped for. But it will still cost just as much. Why not take a "gap year" and learn to program instead? https://twitter.com/Austen/status/1260328480870330368 …

If you really don't like programming, then of course you don't have to do it.

What are the odds of programming becoming something as fundamental as reading and writing in the future?

If you really like math, you don't have to do it? If you really don't like science, you don't have to do it. Bullshit. Learn to code even if you don't like it.

Or, take the spirit of paul’s advice: do something where you can acquire impeccable and useful skills. Learn to write (words, not code) effectively, start/learn a new business, learn (and perhaps apply) some new discipline of your interest, etc

I find the likeability of coding directly correlated to outcomes I’m trying to achieve. Programming for purely programming sake is a recipe for boredom

How heavily will it influence our chances of success in the tech world if we don’t know to code?
