testing per capita in FL => CA, from recollection.
FLA = 27884 per 1 million, CA = 26,227 per 1 million... but cross-state comparisons have so many compounding factors (density, climate, transit, etc.) that I'm not sure they're useful right now.
It is actually not cases. It’s positivity rate and hospitalization rate that better determines scope of spread and impact.
Our (Florida's) testing centers are open for business, no one is going.
When measured by the number of deaths, relative to earlier years, NYC will look pretty horrible. Other areas, though, should look quite good. I am not sure this was the intended outcome when policies were enacted in response to covid, but here we are.
Fair, although new case positivity rate in Florida has been running 3.9% on average over the past 7 days, which, as you know, is extremely low. I don't buy the genius vs idiot narrative; I do think however that governors are holding the economy hostage longer than they should.
Are they "holding the economy hostage" or "preventing unnecessary death"? Tomato, tomahto, I guess, with the variable being the presence of a working moral compass.
mostly correct except excess deaths could come from being unable to get timely/adequate medical care for existing/new medical issues
3 avenues to fatality from #SARSCoV2
- it directly killed
- it contributed along with other illnesses
- it prevented access to medical care
