Was thinking of trying Microsoft Editor to see if it can improve my writing. I ran it over a @paulg essay and every change turned his clear conversational prose into stultified pompous waffle.

I ran it over "How to write usefully" 90 suggested changes including: Removal of the very qualifiers you were writing about in the essay. - From: Whereas to be short with someone is more or less to be rude to them. To: Whereas to be short with someone is to be rude to them.

Some awkward phrasing changes eg. 'more weakly' to weaklier. "It can sometimes work to deliberately phrase statements weaklier than you mean."
