    I don't know if school programming classes do this, but kids like writing games so much that if I were teaching one, I'd just have them write games for the first several years. (Plus you can sneak practically anything into games.)

        Isn't it too complex/frustrating for a kid? Something simpler with quicker feedback loop like Processing is better for that audience.
