Whatever the reasons billionaires planned to flee to New Zealand (I doubt there were more than a handful, and I was never clear why), I bet they didn't include the actual advantage of being there now: a government competent enough to suppress an epidemic.

I’m sure they did factor that in. Small countries are far more efficient than large ones. It’s why much of the US is stuck in the 3rd world.

The number is so small it’s easy to have big moves. Ten out of the nineteen are from a single home for elderly with dementia. If the wrong person hadn’t visited NZ could be 9 instead of 19. Or the reverse.
