Because it gave YC haters a juicy opportunity to misrepresent me, by pretending that the reason we got name clashes was because the alumni aren't "diverse" enough, when in fact the reason is that there are 5000 of them.

First thing I thought when I saw that tweet was that's a lot of Steves and the second thought was that the diversity advocates will have the same thought. I do wonder how you consistently attract these people though.
