Here in Vietnam the quarantine is unforgiving. And we have less than 270 cases overall, and zero deaths. I am not a fan of the government, but it sure is effective.

Central quarantine has it's down sides. Right now, quarantine starts because you *may* be sick. Put all of those "maybe sick" people in the same facility together, and all them WILL be sick.

I think this works if (1) you start this while infection numbers are small and match your resources and (2) your society has a widespread mindset of individuals accepting some limitations for the protection of others/society. I think the US falls short on both counts.
