Not sure if anyone has done a sentiment analysis on Hacker News, but from what I can tell the things that rise to the top are 85% positive/neutral and 15% negative. Something to learn there about tech news coverage.

Having worked as a journalist and an editor, I have to say the economics of doing good journalism are simply not there. Incentives in the business are upside down. Good journalism is always money losing

The loss of differentiation between journalism and media roles both academically and along career paths is concerning, but people without job security form a mindset focused on transferable skills. The word 'ultimately' needs to follow the money.
