If you want to make it harder for dishonest people to misrepresent your ideas, put them in an essay and tweet a link to it, instead of tweeting them directly. They can't quote-tweet an essay.
If someone misrepresents you, they're either dishonest or stupid, depending on whether they're doing it intentionally or unintentionally. That or, though, is definitely not a xor.

I wouldn’t be so quick to call people dishonest or stupid if they misrepresent you. Often we need to reframe our message to leverage emotion, to get the explicit point across to ppl. We evolved to be intuitive politicians not scientists. Understanding human nature is key.

Not that it applies here, but I think the other important possibility is that the message was communicated poorly. This is a less common failure mode in politics, but definitely a big thing in startups.
