Do you know about AB5's origins? It was created by the Teamsters, who want to capture Uber drivers, but can't unless they are employees. All the other consequences are collateral damage.

Organized labor can protect workers at large companies ("organized management") from a negotiating asymmetry. Trying to prevent workers from doing jobs they want to do so the unions will have more workers to "protect" goes WAY beyond any good.
