We don’t have all these systems in place because the best and brightest are being bought by Google and Facebook to figure out how to get more people to click on ads.

If it comes at a profit, we won't be able to scale it up in a way that helps stop it. Every institution that isn't online based, has found itself lacking in this scenerio. Disaster preparedness is something the government should have in check.

Profitable things are way easier to scale. Nonprofits need a continuous supply of capital from external sources. Which is more scalable: Google or your local librarian?
