The stakes are too high. That's the kind of accusation that, be it true or not, may cause more harm and damage in a time where trust and collaboration are already scarce. /1
Let's assume that it is true; of course that's ground for reparations. But the most probable cause, even if it did escape from a lab, is an accident. In this case, what can be gained? And what can be lost? It seems to me that we have more to lose battling than to gain accusing.
If it's a natural virus, it doesn't need to escape, it's already out there...
