Writing Basic programs (I'm teaching my son Basic) reminds me that there was once a time when I used to be impressed when my programs were long. Look at all the work I've done, I used to think.

@paulg , i want to tech my boys (7 & 8y) to code. I was thinking in microsoft makercode (i didn’t used yet) because they love minecraft and mc has an extension for that. I also started with basic when i was a kid. Any advice (beyond your twits)? Thanks!
I don't know what all the options are, but Replit has Basic and a screen you can plot points on, and that's all I need. If you go to http://repl.it/l/basic and type 10 plot 25, 25, "red" in the pane on the left and hit click run, you'll see how immediate it is.

Did this last week! QBasic on http://repl.it . kids had fun with print and loops. My son (5) can't really read yet but knows how many loops of print "hello world" will crash the browser based IDE.
