Our daily update is published. We’ve now tracked ~3.1 million tests, up 146k from yesterday, right about the April average. Note that we can only track tests that a state reports. And not all states report all tests. For details, see: http://covidtracking.com

Deaths, unfortunately, bounced back as they did last Tuesday. This is the highest death total for any day so far: 2,299. That's up 849 day-over-day and up 373 compared to a week ago. This is not what anyone was hoping to see in today's data.pic.twitter.com/6AyYJUurRv

As @the_under_score points out, there have been big spikes for 3 tuesdays in a row. Is this a coincidence, or some kind of artifact?

That sounds compelling at first, but the time from infection to symptom onset alone seems so variable, for this to show up in the death rate would seem surprising wouldn’t it? Unless the argument is that something about medical care during the weekends goes down.

It's not deaths that are delayed, but their reporting.

Yep. Every death will have a date and time recorded along with it. The question is why do so few graphs show it that way?
