In general I think movies and TV give the wrong impression of the success of various intensive interventions (like ventilators in this case). I remember reading something a while ago about how CPR is usually less successful than people think.

Or expose your arms to sunshine. The best way to get vitamin D is sunlight but since it can cause skin cancer, the safest way is to cover with clothing and sun screen, exposing only your arms, which are usually pigmented enough to protect them. It doesn’t take a lot!
