I still haven’t got a good response to why terrible leadership is the only reason US is going through this while excellent leadership in France led to a much higher number of deaths (per capita)

This worse-than-useless #COVID19 graph is making the rounds. The problem with it is in the early stages, epidemics spread at the same rate irrespective of country size. When you divide by population, you create a misleading illusion of lower R0 in bigger countries. https://twitter.com/edrennie77/status/1249028359855759361 …

That makes no sense to me. Already responded to that point in the thread

I don't usually resort to arguments from authority, but if a point about epidemiology made sense to Bergstrom and not to me, my default assumption would be that I was mistaken.

This is not about epidemiology. In fact without a broad framework of analysis you’re more likely to make mistakes

France under reported the deaths up to a certain point in time when it became clear in elderly care a lot of people were dying without being tested. They changed that. The extend of under reporting for the US is not clear yet though. https://datagraver.com/corona/#/?countries=united%20states%3Ahex1976D2,france%3AhexD32F2F&percapita=true&startat=1&stopat=58&growthaverage=7&startattype=fatalities&startatstyle=relative&description=France%20and%20the%20United%20States%20compared …pic.twitter.com/8BpGGv5Pwh
