Next time you encounter someone who thinks that economic growth intrinsically means doing more damage to the environment, show them this graph.pic.twitter.com/71AzjMlCnR

As nations grow richer a lot of emissions are outsourced to developing nations. Don’t buy the argument either

It really is funny how many times you need to point that out to people who don't read the graph thoroughly.

I've had a number of things to tackle of late, but I need to get working on this again since I think as a public educational resource it would be helpufl:https://github.com/dmillett/consumer-impact …

What about exports? The EU does export a lot of its plastic waste out to China/Hong Kong.

The graph says minus emissions for exports . So they get credit if they don’t use the product they produce . Not sure about waste products though.

          I can't help but wonder: `- (imports + exports)` or `- (imports) + (exports)`

Something amiss in this data, overall output of CO2 is increasing, very much Anthropocene, with worldwide scientist community backing and tons of extreme events, unless we are living in simulation. Fig1: CO2 at Mauna, #2 Global primary plastics waste generationpic.twitter.com/8jF0ZgMYdO
