Yes, I was astonished to learn that GDP per capita the UK is lower than any US state except Mississippi. I think Europe seems richer than it is because the things they do spend money on, like roads, tend to be visible.

UHNW and Aristocratic Europeans know this very well. Look at the number of well-to-do founders & companies migrating to the US especially NYC A lot of Europeans seeking jobs in the US Economies of major cities in Europe pre-covid were already starting to significantly decline
