I favor small government, but not so small that it can't respond to a pandemic. Dealing with pandemics is exactly the sort of thing a good federal government should be able to do.

This trend is happening in more than software. Make no mistake though. Technical competence should not be mistaken for an ability to solve social problems with cultural antecedents. Tech may need to reckon with the fact that it cannot solve problems with cultural or historical antecedents. We need to specialize.

America should not rely on donations from wealthy, they need to be taxed fairly to begin with, to contribute to a basic healthcare and social services, which is clearly lacking.
