Patrick says http://fastgrants.org has received a lot of good applications. It will be interesting to see if making decisions in 48 hours based on a 30-minute application yields worse research than the current excruciating grant application process. I bet it doesn't.

we’ve sent small grants to 900 research teams at academic institutions through http://experiment.com . we stipulate 0% overhead and it has not been a problem. our checks are typically <$10k. at $200k i don’t expect 10% limit to be a problem. at $500k you may run into issues.
That's strange, because you'd expect the bigger the grant, the smaller percentage overhead would be required.
