Yeah I wish this wasn't just to scientists but tech projects too. @MaxCRoser could do with an easier way to apply for money.
Can think of many similar projects on http://coronavirustechhandbook.com
Grants industry is failing tech.

I am seeing so many Covid preprints that are theories derived from correlating uncertain data about cases. I guess it's necessary to start with hunches, but would be interesting to see what kind of research gets funded here.

Seems like it's trying to cut down on the "hack-ability" of the test. In The Lesson to Unlearn, my takeaway was: Money is a measurement of winning. “Good work” is a way to earn a lot of money. Having a “quality mind” is how you do “Good work. We need a test for a "quality mind."
-
Any finally, “Growth” is how you measure “Good work”. I'm curious the premise behind how this application is going about measuring a "Quality mind."pic.twitter.com/Qsy02pazuC

How would you measure this? Third party review in days hence, I imagine. How do we avoid consensus bias re. what is important vs trivial? (Current process absolutely has same limitations, but any new process means opportunity to improve)

It's not just the grant application process, but anything that involves peer-review. There are several startups to create to fix that.

I've been looking into this. What are a few you'd recommend?
