In line charts you can compare countries over time.
In bar charts you can compare countries at one point in time.
If you adjust the time slider on our @OurWorldInData line charts to one point in time then the line chart becomes a bar chart.

Has been like this for a long time – it's actually negative news for me that many of you didn't know..
I had no idea either. It's elegant, but definitely an Easter egg. In general your UI seems like it's designed for experienced users rather than people showing up at your site for the first time, or (this is the alarming part) the 50th.

I know. I'm always surprised by how much people love OWID when they don't even know what is possible. It's not just that people don't find the buttons that would get them the buttons they want, it's also that they don't find much of the work we produced and that would help them.

My excuse was always that in the past years we only had 1 developer in the team. He did amazing work – but had to do all of it (database, viz, CMS etc) Now we have a team and if it is still hard to see for a user what is possible in 5 months then we actually are not capable.
