.@paulg I am a huge fan of your essays (and spend a lot of time reading them). Have you thought about adding a [back] link after each endnote which would return the reader to the original location of the endnote link in the text?

For most essays, the footnote references aren't even clickable links. Not that I don't appreciate the web 1.0 charm of your website.

Yes but I often read the endnotes separately and then I have to search for context.

+1 to this feature request. I bet a very large proportion of your users don’t think about the back button. Why not go YC style and measure it? I also read the quotes at the end, after reading the essay with no interruptions, and find myself constantly trying to find the context.

@paulg It doesn't work well on multiple essays on mobile Chrome. Maybe that's a Mobile Chrome problem, but an anchored [back] button could help.
