Two principles I've been teaching my 11 yo about programming: 1. Whenever you change a program, test it. 2. Adjust the size of your changes based on your confidence. Start with small changes. When those work, you can make bigger ones.

It's easy to learn. There's no concept of scope, for example. All variables are global. Which means Basic is bad for writing big programs, but also means you don't have to learn the concept of scope to start writing programs.

Which Basic? I fully agree but everything Ive found reminiscent of QBasic is an attempt to emulate, looks terrible, etc
