Every elected representative should be immediately required to publicly attest to the following:
"I pledge to make no financial profit from any government funding allocated to the coronavirus response."

This is a good idea in principle, but it would be too easy to make a profit by accident. E.g. if you own index funds, and any public company profits from the coronavirus response, you do. Maybe there's a way to rewrite it that would work. I'm not sure.

Agreed. It's not perfect. It doesn't mention making a profit for family members, friends, or campaign donors either. I'm not so worried about index funds. I'm worried that political power and $$$ interests are driving public health priorities. It should be the other way around.

Look into how much public pensions are invested in risky stocks and you'll start to see more of the problem scope.
