Your healthcare should not be tied to your job.

When you understand how health insurance in the US came to be tied to one's job, it's even clearer what a hack it is. (It happened because US companies during WW II couldn't compete for workers by raising wages, which were fixed. So they started offering health insurance.)

Do you think COVID-19 will be enough to undo the hack?

It's hard to undo if you have to switch everything at once. So many powerful vested interests. But I suggested earlier that paying uninsured people's bills for Covid-19 treatment might be a way to move gradually toward universal healthcare.

Quick accessibility of healthcare with no friction is more important than universal healthcare in my opinion. It is as important as crypto. Decentralisation matters - ‘the healthcare decision has to return to the patient in US’ and not be with any central authority.

Agree. Obamacare Exchanges will make the switch easier but barely anybody uses them compared to employer health insurance. Public Option and slowly lowering Medicare Age are smart policies until Medicare For All has support to pass

In most countries including #India, people paying ton of taxes get no direct benefits at all. They end up funding schemes for everyone else while constantly struggling to save enough to build a health emergency fund and pay house loan for 15 years.

I cannot accept universal care as a solution on its basic premise. The idea that everyone must be made a compulsive consumer of a product is laughable in every single area of economics, product, startups, etc. Universal care would be a tragedy in the US and i can def that statemt

The way this system is set up in most countries who have it is this: if you want and can afford it, you can opt out of universal care. If you do not, you are insured under universal care. The choice is still there as are private insurance companies.
