"There are some states that don't have much of a problem." — Trump on the leftmost part of an exponential curve

Fair but I have to agree with his sentiment. A country as amazing as the US shouldn't have to choose between Trump and Hillary or Trump and Biden or Bernie. They don't understand science or tech enough and there are many brilliant leaders out there who'd do a much better job.

It’s great we have people out there who want to help, but it frustrates me they feel compelled to in order to make up for government inadequacy.

Everyone should feel compelled to help make their government better so that it can better serve the common good

What are the reasons social media platforms with dense networks haven’t blasted out a pop up message that allows users to opt in (default, no response is out) to providing gps data to assist in track and trace so as to stem a global pandemic?

Well the smart folks at
@Google were able to miraculously put together an HTML form where people can report symptoms (!!) Then they required Google login. Because like everything they do, the purpose is to collect your data for ad targeting.

Are they ultimately having less of an impact if the dysfunction of the government affects so many more people? Seems like treating symptoms and not the disease itself. Govt wouldn’t neglect these issues if it were more functional.
