If the US government wants to spend money to help people harmed by the coronavirus, surely the most obvious way is to pay their medical bills if they're uninsured and have to be treated for it.

Universal healthcare does not mean private companies do not do tests or make medicines. It means everyone gets a set minimum care. You should still be able to get bells and whistles with extra payments.

With public health, there would be an incentive for prevention. Healthcare for profit has conflict with preventive care.

I think the president and congress wound rather pay pharmaceutical and health insurance executives first. Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work?

I don't understand why industry leaders don't push to lower the Medicare age to 55 or maybe 50. This could do a lot to fix both health care and age discrimination.

The virus won't just disappear once summer hits. It'll go dormant. In the fall it'll wake up *everywhere*. The second round of Spanish flu did the most damage and I expect this to be similar. This would be a good time to inject more socialism into healthcare, even temporarily.
