Looks like a functional design. How easily can they replicate this though?

Does anyone know whether iron lungs would avoid the need for intubation?
-
Perhaps, but they'd increase the need for iron lungs

We could make 1M ventilators tomorrow and it wouldn't help that much unless we could make 200,000 new ER docs appear, plus 500,000 nurses.
-
too much focus on vents that don’t scale (running out of ICU RNs, docs and sedating meds). We need the Italian CPAP helmets that can prevent intubation while also protecting HC workers from aerosolization (CPAP masks in US). We are intubating too early bc of this danger.pic.twitter.com/B77Ox8LFYx

Like the first car produced by a new car company, I wonder how reliable these will be.

Dyson is just providing mass manufacturing capability. It was designed by a company with a very impressive track record in this field.
