Funny how characteristically each country reacts to the coronavirus. China tracks its citizens' every move. Hungary becomes a dictatorship. The US gives money to businesses. The Japanese conceal the problem. The British bravely but stupidly seek herd immunity.

And South Korea solves the problem directly. Maybe this is because South Korea has one of the most recent memories of directly improving and developing itself as a country. Highly recommend Bad Samaritans by Ha-Joon Chang to learn more about South Korea.

In the last decade, a few devastating mistakes by government made the president impeached. Since then Korean gov. reacts to any accidents even to a point of hysteria. It worked this time.

Sweden's refusal to introduce far-reaching mandatory physical distancing measures is also quite typical.

have you ever been to Sweden? People already distance themselves naturally. They look out the peep hole to make sure their neighbors aren't there before they leave an apartment. Sweden practically INVENTED social distancing.

World War Z (the book, which differs dramatically from the movie) has a take on this that eerily matches what has actually happened in this pandemic (Israel quickly shuts it borders, the North Koreans disappear into underground tunnels, etc.)https://www.amazon.com/World-War-Oral-History-Zombie-ebook/dp/B000JMKQX0 …

Yeah. But with a population of just 10 million it's more like a city than a country.
