Equal? I find that blog posts by domain experts are usually better than articles on the same subject by professional journalists.

They were nonce domain experts that we needed when news flowed through a narrow "channel" of print and broadcast. It was sort of like reusing a variable. Now we can have actual domain experts.

That seems like a good article. But it was written by domain experts, not journalists. And it would arguably have been better if they'd published it as an ordinary blog post, since in the WSJ it's hidden from most people by a paywall.
