Sort of like how you can clean up a house and not know where anything is. It can be tidy but hard to use or maintain.

You mean including the author of said code? I don't know how that would be possible, although I have sometimes fixed bugs, without really knowing what was wrong in the first place.

Same. The 1am miracle. Walk away from the screen outside for 15 minutes. Come back change some things and boom it works. No idea why. Happened several times during school (many years ago) haven't coded since.
