Coronavirus is a family of viruses first identified in the 60s. There are 7 known coronaviruses which affect humans. 229E & NL63 (alphas), OC43 & HKU1 (betas), MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and now SARS-CoV-2. They are divided by phylogenetic clustering (alpha, beta, gamma, & delta).

This unethical profiteering at a time like this will be harshly judged in the future. I don’t see medical staff, who are risking their lives for others, will consider these companies in the future.

You would think so, but the medical staff doesn't buy the devices. If people who do are getting kickbacks for making big deals, then it will continue Don't underestimate the bullshit (read: corruption) that happens for money, especially in the medical and insurance industries
