I don't think that's anyone's plan, though. Getting enough time for health system capacity, ramp up testing for effective isolation, time to develop vaccine - there are multiple angles of attack which isolation helps in near and medium term.

I’ve read the article and I don’t think he’s saying lock down is pointless, more that this isn’t going to go away in 2 weeks or a month or even 3 months. We need to ride this out as best we can until there is a vaccine.
