    If air pollution turns out to be a big contributor to coronavirus death rates, then instead of distracting everyone from dealing with climate change, the epidemic may end up making people more willing to do something about it.

        Yes, I think that's it. Patients with chronic lung and heart conditions caused or worsened by long-term exposure to air pollution are less able to fight off lung infections and more likely to die. It's not that PM2,5 or UFP are spreading the virus. Is that what you meant @paulg ?

        It looks like the coronavirus uses the ACE2 receptor to enter cells. The number of ACE2 receptors correlates with smoking and air pollution.
