That was hypothetical, but we have a very concrete question today. Should the people working on COVID-19 be locked out of their labs after 40 hours a week to prevent them from doing harm to the effort? Anyone going to make an impassioned case for that with lives at stake?

This is precisely the challenge governments need to be up to. Now, “adequate” for normal times and “adequate” in covid-impacted-countries mean different things. Countries with less conventional support would need to provide stronger exceptional responses
