is there an assumption that Boom flights will require a huge premium?

Flying is valuable work and thinking time it’s also often a small proportion of the travel time And the best part . There may be a handful of routes “day trips” from SFO-Shanghai/LHR that this would have even the tiniest chance of making any sense. But cost not important anyway

Do you really think that if business travellers flying from Shanghai to LA can choose a 5 1/2 hour flight or a 12 hour flight, they'll choose the 12 hour flight?

This isn’t the comparison . They could choose one of 3 daily departures for a suite on a plane vs one daily departure in economy seating ? Most would choose the longer one and sleep and work. First class it would be different

Most people will choose a 12 hour flight rather than a 5 1/2 hour one? If only Japan Airlines had realized that before they invested $10 million in Boom. The knots people will tie themselves in rather than admit they were mistaken...

There are so many examples in history of new, faster forms of travel appearing along some route. When has a significantly faster form of travel ever not been adopted?

Looks oddly similar. Also quite a lot of ultra long haul faster direct flights fail. People choose Eurostar over Flights for many routes Humans are illogical. Hiking is a really dumb way to live. You end up in the same place. Would be much faster to stay at home

So you think people will never want to travel faster than current subsonic airliners?
